Sand Sculptures, Part One
On Saturday, November 11th, 2006 (Veteran's Day), I went to Fort Myers Beach for my first visit to a sand sculpting competition. The first sculpture I saw was military-themed. It was nice to see that someone thought about the weekend it was being held on to inspire his design.
There were several other scultures. I took around two hundred pictures of them! I won't be posting all of the pictures, but I will post quite a few. Therefore, they will be spread out over several parts in this blog.
By the way, these sculptures were much better looking in person!

Branch Out Art Show Submission
Back in the middle of July, I went to the island of Lover's Key to get a picture for an upcoming art show. Several months before, I was on the island taking pictures. So when this particular show was announced, I knew I wanted to go back to the island. The name of the show was, "Branch Out", which was supposed to deal with the effects that Hurricanes Charley and Wilma had on the area. I chose this picture because it showed the trees that were killed from the hurricanes, plus the vegetation that is beginning to grow again. I titled this photograph, "Life Goes On at Lover's Key."
Photo Friday: Gross
The topic for this week's Photo Friday is: GROSS.
Since I don't usually post pictures of gross things, this is a good opportunity to post a few of them since it is the theme for this week's Photo Friday.
These are dead fish washed ashore on the island of Lover's Key in Southwest Florida because of Red Tide algae. I was there to get a picture for an upcoming art show. For some demented reason, I snapped a few pictures like these. Let me tell you that the smell was much worse than the sight!

Thursday Challenge: Orange
The theme for this week's Thursday Challenge is: ORANGE.
I couldn't decide which one to post for the challenge, so I posted both of them. Both of these photos were taken at Lakes Park in Fort Myers, Florida.
