Naples Zoo

** UPDATE: Five more pictures were added at about 9:00am. **

Danielle and I took a little trip down to Naples, Florida, on Friday and visited the zoo there. I was able to get some nice pictures, but I can't remember the names of everything, so there are no captions for the images below.

"Empathy Invasion" posted

A week and a half ago, I mentioned that I would post a better picture within a day or two of my most recent work of art. That never happened until today. I took another picture of the painting with better lighting and then used Photoshop to adjust the brightness to show a more accurate image of my painting.

The image and a short write-up has been posted at Paintings By Troy.

New Camera Pictures

Yes, I bought another camera. I would have liked to have bought the Canon 20D or 5D, but I just can't afford either of those right now. Therefore, I settled on the more affordable Canon Rebel XT. It is nice that I can use the same lenses that I had already bought for my film SLR. I am still learning about film speed, aperture, and shutter speed, so it is easier to experiment with the digital pictures rather than spending money on developing film that won't turn out good. I'm sure this will help me take better film pictures soon.

I went back out to the Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve in Fort Myers again and took a lot of pictures. I already posted one picture, but I changed that one to black and white and cropped it, so I thought I would post these pictures in a different post.

Dragonfly, Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve, 8 June 2006A dragonfly shot with a 70-300mm lens.
Black-Eyed Susan, Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve, 8 June 2006D tells me this flower is a Black-Eyed Susan. I used a 50mm macro lens for the close up of this flower and the next one.
Unknown Flower, Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve, 8 June 2006I have idea what flower this is.

Cuban Anole

Cuban Anole, Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve, 8 June 2006While walking through the Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve, I spotted this Cuban Anole on the top of the hand railing. I had a 70-300mm lens on my camera, so I had to stand about 5 feet away from it in order to get a shot that was in focus.

Named

I came up with a name for the recently finished painting - "Empathy Invasion."

I was going to post a better picture of it on my other blog, but Blogger is acting up right now. Therefore, I might not be able to get to it until I get home from work tonight or even tomorrow.

Painting

While I was offline and not distracted by the internet, I was able to finish a painting I started at the beginning of February. I have pictures of it posted on my other blog, Paintings by Troy, so you can go there and check it if you like. The final image posted is a bit blurry, so I will take another picture of it soon and get it posted. I'll write about it here when I do.
