Illustration Friday: Under The Sea

The topic for this week's Illustration Friday is: UNDER THE SEA.

This is my version of a striped bass. The fish was created in the style of pointillism using Micron markers. The background was done with a pastel pencil. The size is two and a half inches by three and a half inches.

Slough Preserve

Earlier today, in the late afternoon and early evening hours, I stopped at an area in Fort Myers that I have never visited before - Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve. Of course, I took along my cameras. I wish my digital camera had as good of zoom as my film camera, but I still got some nice shots with it. I decided not to include captions with the digital pictures below, instead letting you just enjoy the pictures for whatever you see. Can you find all the different animals? After looking through a lot of the other submission's for this week's topic, all I saw were photographs dealing with the season of Spring, mostly flowers. I have a lot of those types of pictures, but I wanted to do something a little bit different. Here is a picture of the bottom of a flashlight that has been unscrewed.

Looking Down

Walking through downtown Wheeling one morning in August of 2005, I looked down and decided that I wanted a picture of this. I don't know why I wanted the picture, but now I am sharing it with you.

J.N. Ding Darling NWR

On Monday morning, after just a couple hours of sleep, we got up and headed out to Sanibel Island to visit the J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge. There are usually a tons of birds and other wildlife in this area. However, we didn't see too many on this visit, which was my first time there. Most of the picture I took were with the film camera, but I did snap a few digital ones to share with you.

I was in Cape Coral Saturday morning and took a few pictures.
I was in Cape Coral Saturday morning and took a few pictures. If you look closely in this picture, you will see that is not a stick floating out in the middle of the canal. Instead, it is an alligator.
I took this shot because I thought it might make an interesting picture. It is the edge of an ecological park.

Twins - Pirates Spring Training

Living in Fort Myers, Florida, we have two MLB teams that do their spring training here - Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins. One of my co-workers and I went to the spring training game of the Minnesota Twins and Pittsburgh Pirates. There is not a bad seat at all in the place. As you can see from the pictures, I was able to get pretty close. I took my film camera also and used the 70-300mm lens, so I an anxious to see how those pictures turned out. I can't remember what the final score was, but the Twins won.
