Kayaking from the Sanibel Causeway

On February 22nd, I went kayaking from the Sanibel Causeway, inbetween Fort Myers and Sanibel Florida. I am not sure if the water I was in was considered the Gulf of Mexico, San Carlos Bay, or Pine Island Sound. I got in the water and didn't really know where to go, since I was all by myself and not familiar with the waters in this area. I saw an island to the northwest and decided to paddle out to it. It was farther than I thought and it took my a little while to get there. A few days later, I looked at a map to see exactly where I went and found out the island was almost two miles away. If I would have gone around the island and paddled for another quarter-mile or so, I would have been in St. James City on Pine Island. Not too bad of a paddle that day - I got some good exercise!
